Ottawa Wood Show 2007
Any paid up member of Valley Woodturners wishing to sell his or her
turnings at the Wood Show, may do so by
delivering their work to the Valley Woodturners sales table on Thursday
evening or Friday morning November 29, 30.
Please do not bring in turnings after this since space will already be
taken up.
Turners participating in the sales effort are expected to spend some time
helping out at the Sales Table. The time
will be pro rated, e.g. 10 people for 22 hours = 2.2 hrs. per person.
Any unsold items should be picked up no later than 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
WOODSHOW SALES SHEET
The forms for you to fill out should be filled in by you and must contain
the following:
1. Name – your name – please remember to print, e.g. John Hemingway
2. Article – a description of your turning, e.g. 6” bowl
3. Wood – the type/types of wood in your turning, e.g. cherry
4. Item # - this should match a small sticker placed by you on your
turning made up of your initials followed by a number.
This sticker will be removed from the piece at the time of sale and added
to your form, indicating that the item was sold
and how it was paid. e.g. JH-001
5. Price - should be written in and should be rounded out to the nearest
dollar. e.g., $10.00. If you have an item at $10.00,
you will receive this amount less the 8% provincial tax which will be
added and charged at the time of sale e.g. $9.26.
Also a few cents for credit card costs will be subtracted.
Notes:
It is important that since you are helping out in staffing the Sales Table
that you be present for your time slots.
Space is limited for the turnings to be sold. Please be considerate of the
space your turnings will take up on the display tables.
The sticker/stickers that you place on your turnings should have:
the item # (e.g. JH-001), the price, clearly marked so that customers do not have to ask the
price.
When working in the Sales Table
Please make sure that the entrance to the booth is not blocked to paying
customers. Long conversations on woodturning methods
and how to achieve the best finish on a particular wood should be carried
out over a coffee in the cafeteria or away from the booth.
Please do not turn your back on the display tables, items may grow legs
and wander off, never to be seen again,
this is especially
important during busy periods of the Wood Show.
George Bell and
Laurie Riley will be coordinating the Sales Table this
year.
If you have any suggestions or questions about the Sales Table
please contact one of them.
