There was a bit of information on WoodCentral
this morning about a lady who is doing a PhD on spalted wood. She has
identified some of the fungus involved and is now getting to the point

Stephen Russell is the guy who
discovered that boiling bowls helps them dry faster and helps stop cracking.
He has some interesting material in the
free educational library on his site.

Is there Butternut in your future?
Paul Matteau found out the following when he wanted to cut down a Butternut tree on his property. It turns out that Butternut is listed under the Endangered Species Act, there is a $5,000 fine for dropping a tree where permission has not been granted by the ministry. It has been listed as such since 2008. Have a look at the following Ministry link to find out why.
